It started in a living room.
Mission City Church was born.
Mission City Church values the family, and we know it’s one of the biggest battles in the war on souls as described in 1 Peter 2:11. God values family much more than we realize. For example:
Matthew 6:9 says “This then, is how you should pray… ‘Our Father…’”
John 3:16 says “…He gave his only Son…”
The Old Testament talked about the “children of Israel”.
The church is described by Paul as the “bride of Christ”.
All of this language is directly related to family. Family is at the top of the list for God, and should be for us as well. Now more than ever, the church should be a family to those who don’t have one.
As more of us move away from our family of origin for jobs or other pursuits, we think technology can keep us together. But we need family! Not family built on social media or digital communication, but family that shows up when you need them – no matter what. A church that is literally “the family of God” the way it was designed to be, centered on faith.
A family of faith, growing faith in families.
As God has from the beginning, He continues to answer our prayers! In September 2016 we merged with Chapman Memorial Baptist Church and held our first service at our current location, formerly Chapman’s campus. God not only expanded our family, but provided us with an updated sanctuary, renovated education building, fellowship hall, and plenty of room to grow!
We’ve come a long way from that living room. God has done so much for Mission City Church in just a few short years. We invite you to join us on the journey as we build faith in our families, encourage each other, and reach our community with the love of Christ.
