Change. It’ll Do You Good.

I walked outside this morning and thought “man it’s cold!” Then I got a text from my friend Marc in Green Bay, WI. He said it was 27 degrees there this morning. Ouch! The cold season is coming fast, and we can’t stop it. There are things we can control, and things we can’t. The weather is one thing we can’t control.
One thing we do control is our minds. The mind is a powerful thing. When our mind is set on certain things, it directs our bodies, our emotions, our plans, and our actions. You control your mind. You choose what to set your mind to. The Bible says this…
Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. (Colossians 3:2)
“Things that are above” are eternal, not temporary. When we set our mind on the temporary, things change. When we set our mind on the things that are above, we are setting it on eternal things that don’t change. Jesus’ ways are secure and his love endures forever.
You can’t control the temperature outside the house, but you can control the inside. Think of your mind like a thermostat as cold weather is approaching. Change the settings. Set your mind on things above. Don’t worry about the cold weather approaching. Set your mind on the only constant thing in the universe – God Almighty, who never changes. If you are one of His, you have nothing to worry about. In summer or winter, God’s house is always the same.
