Out Of Great Love

Here’s a joke for you. I’ll give the punch line at the end.

Q: What do you call the security guards outside the Samsung factory?

There are things people say or do to which we respond “Are you joking?” We say this because whatever it is, it’s so extraordinary or weird that they have to be joking… right? Other times we ask “Are you kidding me?” when we’re upset.

We’ve been studying the book of Galatians. You can hear in Paul’s letter the times when I think he wants to say “Are you kidding me?” in anger and frustration. But if you read closely, you will see that everything Paul is writing is written with love. He cares for these people, and that’s why he’s writing it. He is passionate about the Gospel, and the character of the churches in Galatia reflecting the character of Christ to one another.

I wish I could write as well as the Apostle Paul. I have the same passion and love for all of you and sometimes the anger and frustration that goes along with it. I want so much for you and your family to experience a relationship with Jesus that satisfies. I see so many of you putting your relationship with Christ on the back burner, and I hear all the excuses. Know that I’m praying fervently for you.

I say all this out of a great love for you. I’m not kidding. The message of the Gospel of Jesus is that He loves you and you can know Him. The way we live for Him matters. Our character in Jesus matters. I’m going to explain it this Sunday, and I hope you will come to worship. We really miss seeing you. No joke. We do.

This Sunday is high attendance Sunday and we are giving away a free t-shirt to everyone who comes. I hope to see you there.
