The Real Fight
8/12/21
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8)
Last Sunday I had a challenge for all of you concerning prayer. You responded, and we had a powerful time of prayer at our weekly 6pm Prayer Meeting.
On Monday we had 24 beautiful children for our first day of Art Camp. On Wednesday the number had grown to 30! Kid City has prayed every night before and after camp for God’s will, and for His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven in the lives of these children. Josh will be sharing the gospel tonight.
On Tuesday morning I got a text that one of our Elders (Ken) went to the hospital in an ambulance. On Tuesday afternoon, someone who serves in our Food Pantry (Allen) also went to the hospital in an ambulance. On Wednesday I got another text that one of our college students (Angelina) has the covid virus.
I have felt that the devil has been on the prowl this week at Mission City. Fervent prayer went out all day Tuesday, and both Allen and Ken went home Tuesday night.
I was in constant prayer all day Tuesday, and have been throughout the week. God is working in so many lives, but so is the Devil. If you missed my sermon last week, please go to Facebook or YouTube and watch. We are in a battle at Mission City and the real fight is happening on the hill. It’s prayer. It’s not a physical battle, but a spiritual one. We need to help hold one another’s hands up in prayer.
I hope you won’t miss this Sunday, and I pray you can bring a friend. Liz is back and leading worship this week, and we are very excited to see her back and healthy again. God is doing amazing things. Let’s continue to pray that He will keep the Devil on a leash.
See you Sunday,
KD
